Run youtube in Pakistan

Disclaimer: I am really sorry I am telling you the way that how you can run the youtube in Pakistan.

I was actually in need of playing the Web development tutorials videos on youtube, Google hangouts with developers, Webmasters and wanted to show some educational material to my kids. As you guys know Youtube is banned since few years in Pakistan. There are many free solutions available from Chrome Extensions to Proxy sites. But I think the best way is to use some Paid VPN. I have used Boxpn for couple of years and now I want looking to find the best one. My techie friend suggested me to use Witopia VPN. So, I went a head and purchased their PRO Yearly plan in $69.99

I am sharing a link below, by using that link you can get 15% discount.

When I met with Sir Dr. Naveed Malik

Note: I met with Sir Dr. Naveed Malik at March 17th, 2014.

I wanted to meet Sir Dr. Naveed Malik (rector of Virtual University of Pakistan) as a Google Student Ambassador to discuss about Google apps for education and Student activities. Finally, got appointment and travelled all the way from Sialkot to reach Virtual University of Pakistan M.A Jinnah Campus in Lahore. It took me almost 3 hours to reach there. After waiting for sometime, I was called by his PA to meet him. When I entered his office, he gave me a warm welcome by saying: Adnan, you are looking very nice in this Google t-shirt 🙂

We talked about so many things related to VU Study and for the betterment of Students. He listened my questions patiently. Hope you will enjoy our discussion: Continue reading “When I met with Sir Dr. Naveed Malik”

migration from my old blog imblog.info

Till now,  I was using my domain imblog.info (bought in 2008) to introduce myself. I didn’t had the thoughts I should use some other domain like adnan.com or adnan.pk and when I got some sense both domains were taken by someone else 🙂

I talked to the owner of adnan.com and he was asking me 1,000 USD. So, I was waiting that owner let adnan.pk expire and after couple of years waiting I finally got adnan.pk  I have imported all the posts from my imblog.info to adnan.pk

I hope to keep updated the audience with latest tech things but I’m not sure. I’m always busy doing some crazy stuff and you know managing the family 😉

Looking forward, In Sha Allah 🙂

Adnan

SQL/CSV importing error: Got a packet bigger than ‘max_allowed_packet’ bytes

I got this error today when I was importing a CSV file in MYSQL using phpMyAdmin. This error can be with SQL importing as well. It appears because of some (let’s say description) field needs to extend its length. After searching a lot on web, I found I would need to edit my.cnf file variable ‘max_allowed_packet’ to maximum bytes. If you are doing this on your local machine or VPS you can edit file directly. but there is another nicer way to do that.
